Back at it! A Casual Western Look

I am so happy to be blogging again! I needed that break in May, especially since I went to Belize and Santa Barbara last month. One thing I have really been missing is writing. It has been amazing running into old friends and them asking me when I'm going to start blogging again, the day is today, my friends! Thank you all for your support on my 59 Day Challenge. It was really fun but really difficult. Working with my stylist, Minh Le, and giving myself that challenge has really taught me a lot about being creative with the clothing I have. Though I may not have the top designer's clothes, a huge budget or the perfect body, I really like dressing well. I am dedicating this blog to all of the style-loving-people with my same issues or other issues that don't allow them to buy whatever they want from Saks!

Though I will mainly be showcasing my outfits, I also will be including pictures of my friend's outfits, if they are willing. Fashion is to be shared. As we experiment with our own wardrobes and admire the creativity of others, we make the world a more beautiful place. Enough soap-boxing, time for pictures!
Tools, everyone needs decent tools whether building a table or putting on makeup. I love these synthetic Sephora brushes. I bought them about 9 years ago and they still feel baby smooth. Make sure to wash your brushes regularly, I use Sephora's brush cleaner. Shimmery, dewy skin is always my goal so mineral powder foundation is my passion, along with bronzer to give my face definition. This look is easy to do since I also used the bonzer for my eyeshadow.

I love grabbing my cowboy boots to wear with any outfit, they just make it more fun! Adding accessories, like this statement cuff from Minh Le, keep things polished and feminine. And of course, don't forget your skinny jeans!

59 Days of Style Day 37 & 38: Coral and Cowboy Boots

We've all heard that we need to buy quality clothes, that is partly what this blog is about- enjoying the clothes I do have and not over-stuffing my closet. (Can't believe I only have 21 days left on my journey!) Yesterday and today, I pulled older items out of my closet that have been highlighted in spring 2011 fashion.

Coral:
You can't look through a fashion magazine without them telling you that coral is the color of the season. I thought about this then realized the top I bought last spring is coral! Of course, I thought it was orange when I bought it before I was informed by the fashion world that it is, in fact, coral. If you are going to wear coral, keep the rest of the outfit simple. I wore dark Calvin Klein skinny jeans and black Jessica Simpson ballerina flats.

Keep the makeup simple too. I used pretty brown shimmery shades by Arbonne on my eyes, black liner with brown shadow over to make the look softer.

 Western Wear:
Western wear is a strong spin off the 70's vibe a lot of collections have for spring 2011, this is why it is important to have one pair of cowboy boots you love, like I illustrated on my Cowboy Boots for All post. Western boots are a great punch for this Forever 21 cardigan (Day 20) and my favorite skinny jeans (Day 13, Day 18 and  Day 23 Day 28).

I'm in love with these boots from Tener's

It is important to buy quality pieces that fit you nicely and give you good feelings, then take the clothes you have and look for current fads among them. Alright, you can buy a couple fad pieces but just don't go overboard ;)

Cowboy Boots for All!

Cowboy boots. That's right, everyone needs a good pair of western style boots. Whether you are tromping around in the weeds, dancing at saloon, going shopping or at work, adding a little yee-haw to your life is a good idea. I've had my boots for years. They stay in the closet most of the time but when I want them, they are there for me. It is fun to wear my boots for obvious reasons but I also get a lot of compliments on them. My boots are by Steve Madden. They are slouchy, brown, have a pointed toe and embroidery: all things I was looking for when shopping for them. Since you will be able to wear western boots for many years to come, spend some decent money on a good pair. Genuine leather is always a good step. If you are against leather, there are leather alternatives. Here are my favorite boots I found online.

Candence These are simply beautiful. A nice nod to a western boot without being obvious. The height give them a little extra sex apeal.
$99

Zigi Shoho She's The One Super cute if you are looking for an ankle western. Keep in mind that ankle boots are more likely to go out of style in a few years than a traditional, mid-calf.
$99.99

Crush Need to get some kicking done? These metal toe boots will get your point across. Love the metal detail around the ankle.
$144

Crush Slouch A little less yee-haw but still a good point and I LOVE the color.
$144

Crush Shorty Slouch at 8" (others are around 10") it is not quite an ankle boot but not as tall as the others. The oxford inspired toe with the sticking is so much fun.
$81.26

Roper Slouch Faux Leather Though they are faux, these are a great combination of the above boots.
$74

Happy Shopping! Let me know which you decide to get, or share your own finds.
